Board Matters.

• The Board has been investigating various methods/options to attract new members to the Club. The Board have engaged Mr Chris New, from New Way Media, to implement a social media program. Chris will have visited the Southern Nomads Muster in August. 
• The 18^th National Muster is coming together, and we thank the members that have volunteered to assist with the setup of the Showgrounds.
• The Board approved the club to attend the recent Mid North Coast Outdoor Show held in Wauchope. 
• We had many inquiries with several new members joining the ACC.
• The Board approved the purchase of new marketing material to be used in promoting the Club. A sample will be displayed at Charleville during the National Muster.
• The Board approved the Club Becoming a Silver contributor to the CIAA. We believe this will provide us with other opportunities to promote the Club and receive information firsthand. This will be for a 12-month period, to be reviewed at the end of the period.

Industry Items.

• Manufacturing Australia is an online magazine that features various manufacturing industries throughout Australia. In the June edition there was an article showing the changes that have been made at Crusader Caravans.

Crusader Caravans have gone from a “stick and tin” caravan to a full composite van. The process was undertaken when Crusader moved into a new factory in Somerset. Crusader has won the CIV Manufacturer of the Year award for the third time in 2024.

The caravans are now built in a production line facility, think Ford. Holden etc. There are 22 workstations totaling 181 people on the production floor that together produce one caravan every 54 minutes. The 54 minutes translates to 8 caravans a day, producing 40 a week now with plans to ramp up to 50 a week by September.

• Gunlom Falls in Kakadu National Park has now reopened after being closed for six (6) years. The Falls were closed by the Jawoyn traditional owners after a walkway was constructed too close to a sacred rock art site.

Another attraction in Kakadu, Twin Falls, will reopen next dry season after infrastructure upgrades. There are plans for significant investment throughout the park to re-establish it as one of te world’s leading National Parks.  Kakadutourism.com

• 3D Printing

During the week I was reading Manufacturing Australia and found an interesting article about the adaption of 3D printing. Bruder, a high-end manufacturer, had run out of taillight housing. They approached a 3D printing company, and the results were:

3D printer housings were 3 x Lighter

Cost of Product = $9, 

Time to print > 3hours

2 – 6 hours turnaround time for design modifications.

The original housings cost $118-, and 3-week turnaround time.

Board Matters.

• The Branch Operation Procedures are currently under review.
•  Tom Smith (Deputy Chair) was contacted by the ABC Perth (WA) for an interview regarding the removal of freedom camping in Western Australia. The interview was well received by the ABC.
• ·At the close of nominations for the Board, the Returning Officer, Mr D Hale, advised that only two (2) nominations were received, Mr Rob Tudor and Mr Frank Casey. Therefore, there will be not be an election at the AGM.
• The 2026 National Muster has been awarded to the Australian Rural Education Centre in Mudgee, from the 12 – 19 October 2026.

After receiving an email request from the Secretary of the ACC Tassie Travellers requesting more Member Benefit Providers for Tasmania, we are acting on it.  A request was sent back to give us an idea of locations and businesses that they may think would be interested in joining.

Our ACC membership is a great resource for identifying accommodation suppliers and businesses that may join our program, as they have on the spot knowledge and details, whether visiting a town or living in the town.

Members don’t have to do the hard sell, (although if you did, this would help Frank out), just ask the venue two questions, and gather the following information.

• Branches Secretaries have been asked to provide a profile of their branch. We see this as a fantastic initiative as visitors to the website can gain an insight into the branch. Thank you to the branch secretaries that have already sent the profile to Rob Tudor or Graham.
• Branch expenses have been coming in and it shows how much the branches are spending while on a Muster. From January to June 2025 the total is $307,153.

Industry Items.

New smoke alarm laws are coming for Queensland.

Interconnected compliant smoke alarms means when one goes off, they all go off.

All existing private homes, townhouses, and units require interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms by 1 January 2027. All registered caravans and motorhomes must also be fitted with a photoelectric smoke alarm.

Legislation introduced on 1 January 2017 requires all smoke alarms to comply with Australian Standard AS3786-2014 and requires pre-existing smoke alarms to be replaced with interconnected smoke alarms if the smoke alarm has expired; does not work anymore and/or converting the home into a rental property.

What does it mean to be compliant?

Smoke alarms must:

• Be photoelectric
• Be interconnected with every smoke alarm in the dwelling so all activate and go off together.
• Comply with Standard AS3786-2024 which is marked on the body of the alarm. To locate the marking, you may need to remove the bracket to look underneath.
• Not contain an ionisation sensor.
• Be hardwired, installed by a licensed electrician (eg 240v) to the mains powers supply with a secondary power source (i.e. non removable 10-year battery) or:
  Be powered by 10-year non-removable type photoelectric smoke alarm that can be installed yourself.
