22 Members and 2 Guests visited the Mt Barrow Lookout, local vineyards including the Leaning Church Vineyard, Evandale Market on Sunday, Seaport in Launceston and many in attendance enjoyed TT club member, Brian Medcraft's 70th birthday!

Other activities included games of Finska and an introduction to Ladder Golf, a shared egg and bacon breakfast on Saturday morning and we mustn't forget the Happy Hours!
A fantastic weekend with a near record, if not record number of vans in attendance.
AUSTRALIAN THEME MUSTER
32 members and 2 guests of the SA branch Lower Murray Gadabouts held an Australian Theme muster at the Mt Compass Caravan Park (one of our valued Member Benefit providers) on the Fleurieu Peninsula recently. Activities included visits to the Willunga markets and Victor Harbour. Members met at the camp kitchen, decorated with Australian flags for happy hours, pancake breakfast complete with fresh blackberries picked by Marie. Evening meal included pea and ham soup, meat pie, roast potatoes, mushy peas finished with dessert of pavlovas and lamingtons.

We had various members reading bush poems and then a sing along with lots of Australian favourites. As the theme was Australian, many of our members dressed to the theme and the winner with the best costume was one of our visitors, Dennis. We all had a great muster with lots of laughs.
Lets help keep South Australia fruit fly free.
Did you know South Australia is the only Australian mainland state that is free of fruit fly? Are you travelling into South Australia from interstate or into the Riverland from within the state? Then read on…
The following information has been extracted from the Primary Industries and Regions South Australia Web site.
“As of 4 January 2019, if caught with fruit or fruiting vegetables illegally at the Yamba Quarantine Station you will be fined. A zero tolerance approach is also in place at random quarantine roadblock operations in South Australia
Signs and disposal bins are located across the state including at road entry points, airports and rail terminals. You can use these locations to dispose of restricted products.
Road signs will inform you that you must dispose of restricted fruit and vegetables before you enter South Australia. Additional signs are placed within the state to inform you when you are approaching the Riverland fruit fly exclusion zone.
What you can bring into South Australia
Fresh fruit and fruiting vegetables cannot be carried from interstate into South Australia, unless they comply with import requirements. Commercial importers generally need a plant health certificate or plant health assurance certificate to bring these items into the State.
Uncertified fresh fruit and fruiting vegetables (those generally carried by the travelling public) cannot be brought into the state. Fines and penalties of up $100,000 apply if you breach these regulations and requirements.
Check your food
Use our handy Food Checker https://www.pir.sa.gov.au/biosecurity/fruit_fly/travelling_to_south_australia to see what fruit, vegetables and other food items you can and can't bring into South Australia.
Bringing fruit and vegetables into the South Australian Riverland
Additional restrictions apply for taking fresh fruit and vegetables into the Riverland fruit fly exclusion zone from other parts of South Australia. Learn more about bringing fruit into the Riverland.”
Don’t risk being caught.

Record number of Australian Caravan Club members racing to Charters Towers Chairman’s Muster
A record number of registrations for the forthcoming annual Australian Caravan Club (ACC) Chairman’s Muster have been received for the Muster which is to be held in Charters Towers in May.
ACC Chairman, Craig Humphrey, said the response from members has been fantastic.
“Over 115 RV’s bringing 200 ACC members will visit the Charters Towers region for nearly a week from 14 May 2020. I had envisaged about 70 RV’s attending but I am really overwhelmed with the response.
“Following strong representation from local organisers - Judy de Loryn and Linda Brierley, I was very supportive of staging this year’s Chairman’s Muster in Charters Towers.
“As a group of senior RV travellers covering the four corners of this great country, our members have seen the devastation caused by drought and other severe weather events.
“Our members have been very strong in wanting to provide more support in drought-affected areas. When we stay in rural areas, research indicates our members spend up to $100 per day which supports local business.
“This is an example of RV travellers being able to directly support affected regions and I commend both the organisers and members for such a positive reaction to date,” said Mr Humphrey.
Charters Towers Regional Council’s Deputy Mayor, Cr Sonia Bennetto said she is thrilled by the response from the ACC community.
“We’re excited to have so many ACC members register for the Chairman’s Muster. It will be fantastic for our community and a real boost to our local economy.
“We can’t wait to show off what our region has to offer,” said Cr Bennetto.
Whilst in Charters Towers, ACC members will visit several local attractions, have catered meals and support a local charity organisation.
Local businesses wishing to get involved in the ACC Muster, by providing an incentive or special voucher to Muster attendees, are encouraged to email the Charters Towers event convenors Linda and Judy by email on This email address is being protected from spambots. “I encourage local businesses to reach out to the organisers to see how they can promote their business to the ACC members,” said Cr Bennetto.
The ACC was founded in September 2006 and is now the second largest multi-brand RV club in Australia.
Sydney Tolls Update

Yesterday representatives from RV Clubs of Australia Limited (RVCAL) including the ACC met with the Office of the NSW Minister for Transport on a number of matters including Toll charges for RV’s travelling through Sydney. The following advice has been received regarding a grace period that RV travellers may be eligible for a toll credit -
Are you aware that if you have travelled through Sydney using a toll way since August 2019 you MAY be eligible for a toll credit. ACC received information yesterday that improvements in roadside measurement technology has meant more consistent classifications and charging across toll roads in Sydney. As classifications are determined by vehicle measurements, towed vehicles and caravans may have been impacted by these changes.
In NSW, the class of your vehicle, along with the distance you travel, determines the tolls you pay. Class is determined by vehicle dimensions and recent improvements in roadside technology has improved the way we detected these measurements. A vehicle’s total measurements includes any towed vehicles, such as trailers, caravans and boats. If you travel with one of these vehicles, your classifications may have been impacted and you might have experienced an increase in your toll road charges as a result. A toll credit for the difference between a Class B and Class A may be available if this impacts you.
Eligibility: To be eligible for a toll credit, you must:
- Have travelled between 26 August 2019 and 29 February 2020, inclusive
- Have at least one trip classified as a Class B trip
- Travelled on one of the following toll roads: Hills M2, Westlink M7, Lane Cove Tunnel, Eastern Distributor, Cross City Tunnel, M5 South-West Motorway, WestConnex M4
- Have a privately-owned vehicle which was towing a caravan, trailer or similar
Linkt have advised via their website that they have proactively notified customers expected to be impacted by these changes, however some may not have received the advice. The “grace” period is until 29 February 2020, so act now, by calling them direct 13 33 31.
