Our first ever appearance at a caravan show has certainly created a lot of interest from caravanners and exhibitors alike.

Although our stand is in an area with less traffic than some, there has been a steady stream of people coming to chat to our volunteers, sign up or just take a brochure away to study later.

I’ll publish a full report after the show but the volunteers manning the stand for the first three days have felt the exercise well worth the effort. Barry Konemann, Gary Duncan and Ken Glover have been with me and form a great team.

The stand itself with the ‘Welcome’ banner designed by our secretary and first seen at Byron Bay, plus large blow up posters highlighting our activities has created an excellent impression of our club and its professionalism.

The new brochures showing the benefits of belonging to the ACC have also sparked good interest and should continue to bring new members for a quite while into the future.

Other volunteers will be with us later in the week and we have already had members visiting the show drop by to say g’day.

There are all sorts of jobs that fall into the lap of the Chairman but none that gives me greater pleasure than welcoming a new Branch into the fold.

The happy task this time is to greet the newly formed ACC Hunter Ramblers and I extend a warm welcome on behalf of the Board and members of the ACC to the members of the new branch.

Reading about their first muster shows they are well on the way to the great mix of social activities, forging new friendships and sharing knowledge that is the strength of our branch activities.

Our newest branch, the Gold Coast Gadabouts, has just been formed.  The first muster is scheduled for the weekend from Friday, 22nd February, and is to be held at the Tamborine Mountain Caravan and Camping Park.

We need you!

With three committees under way and beginning to get stuck into their allotted tasks we need to bolster their numbers with more volunteers.

Independent Camping Committee

 Chairman Don Reid is looking for representation from every State so that he can compile an accurate picture of what's available throughout Australia for camping either at no cost or at budget rates. Once we have the information we will look at areas where some action is needed to protect and increase the availability of facilities for our members.

Promotions and Marketing Committee

Chairman Barry Konemann's committee is charged with promoting membership, obtaining sponsorship and Nomad advertising and in general ‘selling' the club. He has a couple of committee members already but Barry would welcome a few more helpers.

Annual Muster and AGM Committee

Chairman Gary Duncan and his committee have the task of finding a venue and making the arrangements for our second Annual Muster and the AGM. Once the date and venue is finalised I'm sure they will be looking for more help.

You could cut the tension with a knife. It was the bowls final at the first ACC muster. The air was heavy with competition, but there were smiles and laughter all round
