Our Freedom Camp of the Month – Simply Tomatoes at Boort

Boort Simply Tomatoes Farm in Victoria is our Freedom Camp of the Month for June.

Nominated by ACC East Gippsland Roadrunners branch member Derek, you will find Simply Tomatoes on Parkers Road, Yando near Boort.

Friendly hosts Ian and Marilyn provide a tour of their Aussie Wool Quilts business and a tasting of their green tomato produce.  There are tea and coffee facilities.

The campground is a picturesque grassy area beside the dam with geese and willow trees.  Power and toilets are available.  Camping is free but please leave a donation in the donation box.  Donations go back into the upkeep of the campground and camping facilities.

Group day tours to check out the hidden gems of Boort which include a packed lunchbox are also available on enquiry.

In his nomination for the site, Derek stated –

On our Silos Tag A Long we finished at Simply Tomatoes At Boort Vic.   Ian and Marilyn are the owners of the property and have opened it up to RVs as a free Budget camp. We had 2 nights there and our group did the Simply Tomatoes Tour which included their history and afternoon tea on day 1, then on day 2 we finish the Tag A Long with a 3 course meal served around the fire.  The 2 day tour only cost $25:00 per head and the meal was great. We had full use of the Outdoor Entertainment area as well as free tea and coffee anytime. There is also limited 10 amp power available to keep the vans’ batteries charged.

Pets are permitted and there is a maximum stay of 72 hours.  Please ring Ian and Marilyn prior to your arrival to confirm availability on 03 5455 4237.

While staying at Simply Tomatoes, a visit to the nearby Spannerman is a must!
